  • MOTHER JACQUELIN GREEN HOLMES
    Supervisor, Virginia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ, Inc.

    Mother Jacquelin Green Holmes is the firstborn of the late Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr. and Mother Vivian F. Green. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and attended the Norfolk Public Schools, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, June 1964. Mother Holmes attended Hampton University, Christopher Newport College, and William and Mary College studying Early Childhood Education. She received an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Divinity from Norfolk Seminary and College in August 2000.

    Mother Jacquelin G. Holmes was saved at the age of 11 years old under the late Bishop D. Lawrence Williams at the Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ in Norfolk, Virginia. She and her family were very active in the youth department. In 1960 her father, Bishop Samuel L. Green, Jr. was appointed Pastor to the St. Johns Church of God in Christ in Newport News, Virginia. Mother Holmes held many positions in her church such as Superintendent of Sunday School, Youth Choir Director, Organizing the First Children’s Choir, Home & Foreign Mission President, Organized the First Miss Charm, and Mr. Esquire Pageant in her church. Mother Holmes wrote plays and songs involving the children and youth in special presentations for the church and community. The children and youth had plenty to do because of her creativity, enthusiasm, and love for young people to stay with God.

    In 1976, Mother Jacquelin Holmes and the youth celebrated July 4, 1776, the birth of our nation – The Declaration of Independence with a colorful and exciting presentation for all the community to attend at the church and participated in the community parade. Mother Jacquelin Holmes has special projects, services, and fundraisers for the ministry. She has had celebration services honoring the Pastor and his wife, senior members of the church, youth, outstanding members, and people of the community.

    Mother Jacquelin G. Holmes for 32 years served as the Administrator of the St. Johns COGIC Child Care Center & Kindergarten until she retired in 2001. She served as Peninsula District Missionary for over 25 years. Mother Holmes is the former Vice-President of the State Home & Foreign Missions Department, the First Woman Chairman for the State AIM (Auxiliaries in Ministry Conference)1998-2001. She is President of the Missionary Board of the St. Johns Church of God in Christ. Mother Jacquelin G. Holmes was appointed by Mother Willie Mae Rivers, November 2005 to serve as Supervisor of Women for Virginia-Second Jurisdiction where she was blessed to serve with her father until 2013. Mother Holmes has been favored by the Lord to continue to serve in this compacity as Supervisor of Women alongside Bishop Wilbert L. Daniels, Sr., Virginia Second Jurisdictional Prelate.

    Mother Holmes was appointed in 2009 by Mother Willie Mae Rivers to serve on the Advisory Board for the International Women’s Department. The Advisory Board is the second-highest board in the International Women’s Department, Church of God in Christ, Inc. Mother was named in the 1989 edition of “Who’s Who in the World of Women”. She is a teacher, organizer, advisor, and encourager. The state women’s department has celebrated the unsung heroes of the jurisdiction, state ushers, women and men in outreach ministry, the military in surrounding areas, the leaders of the jurisdiction, and families of the jurisdiction.

    Mother Holmes is the mother of Missionary Raquel Holmes-Martin, Missionary Rochelle Robbins and Elder Arthur Earl Holmes, III and grandmother of Jonathan Earl Holmes, Ariana Robbins, and W. Aaron Robbins, Jr. Mother Holmes has four sisters and four brothers who are involved along with their families in ministry. “To God Be the Glory!”
